Who are Les Kapsber'girls ?

Passionate about exploring the pre-baroque and baroque repertoire, this young ensemble created in 2015 reunites four musicians :

Alice Duport-Percier (soprano), Axelle Verner (mezzo), Garance Boizot (viola da gamba) and Albane Imbs (artistic direction and plucked instruments).

The Kapsber'Girls are looking for new ways of interpreting historical sources. Drawing their inspiration in diverse traditional repertoires, the four musicians are working on XVIIe and XVIIIe centuries musics in a new transversal manner, playing with diversity of styles.
Energy and vitality are borrowed to « popular » music and the colors are taken from modern music : the girls are willing to find novelty in ancestry !

Their name ? It is inspired by one of the most famous Italian composer of the XVIIe century : Hiéronymus Kapsberger (1580 – 1651) that the girls honour in their first CD recording Che Fai Tù? (March 2020, Muso) which obtains several important awards such as Diapason d’Or, ffff Télérama, Jocker Découverte Crescendo Magazine (Be.) and is awarded Recording of the Month (July) by MusicWebInternational (GB).

Their second disc ( Alpha Classic), released in 2021, about the French baroque repertory of Brunettes songs, was awarded by the press (Recording of the week by Gramophone, 5 Diapasons, 5 stars Classica Magazine,...)

Les Kapsber'Girls are regularly invited for artistic & creation residencies in important artistic places such as Académie Bach (Arques-la-Bataille), La Cité de la Voix, Sinfonia En Périgord, CCR d'Ambronay, CCR Ferme de Villefavard, and CCR de l'Abbaye aux Dames.

We have heard them recently in many renowned European festivals : London Festival of Baroque Music (UK), Brighton Festival (UK), Festival Académie Bach (France), Toulouse les Orgues (France), Fora do Lugar (Portugal), Sinfonia en Périgord (France), Les Nuits de Septembre (Belgium), Festival Radio France (Fr.), Opera de Lyon.

Alice Duport-Percier

Alice grew up in a rich musical environment and quickly showed a desire to sing. She entered the youth choir of the opera of Lyon in 2007 and then, continued her vocal training with Claire Marbot, Bruno Boterf, Anne Delafosse, Monique Zanetti and Robert Expert. She specialised in early music at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon.

Alice works with plenty ensembles: Les Kapsber’girls, Libera me, Grissini Project, Spirito, Concerto Soave, Ludus modalis or Unacorda choir. In February 2019 she made her debut as an opera soloist in the role of Oberto (Alcina Haendel) in the Händel-festspiele of Karlsruhe (Germany) and will perform Amour in Gluck’s Orfeo and Eurydice at the Zurich Opera in 2021.

Albane Imbs

Albane Imbs discovered the renaissance lute at the tender age of 6 and attended her first lute lessons with Pascale Boquet. In 2012, she was admitted to the CNSMD in Lyon in the class of Rolf Lislevand with whom she learns mastering several historical plucked instruments as theorbo, archlute and baroque guitar. She obtains her master degree of Early Music in 2017.

As soloist or continuist, Albane had the opportunity to perform within well-known ensembles such as Le Concert des Nations (Jordi Savall), Pygmalion (Raphaël Pichon), Kapsberger Ensemble (Rolf Lislevand), Les Musiciens de Saint Julien(François Lazarevich)), Il Gusto Barocco (Jörg Halubek) or with conductors such as Emmanuelle Haïm.

In 2015, Albane creates her own ensemble, Les Kapsber’girls.

Besides performing, pedagogy and music teaching set the core of her activity. Since 2012, Albane possesses a degree in pedagogy (DUMI) and works frequently in educational environments.

Axelle Verner

Axelle Verner's practice of singing is inspired by various arts and seeks for a wide range of vocal textures. She is graduated from the Maîtrise de Notre Dame de Paris and the CNSMD of Lyon. She sings pieces from the Middle Ages to the late Baroque area, as a soloist or in the ensembles of Simon Pierre Bestion (La Tempête), Tiago Simas Freire (Capella Sanctae Crucis), Frank-Emmanuel Compte (Le Concert de l’Hostel Dieu), Albane Imbs (Les Kapsber’girls) or Sébastien Daucé (Correspondances). Since September 2019, she is training herself to classical style in the Pôle Lyrique d’Excellence of Cécile de Boever.

Garance Boizot

Born in Paris, Garance Boizot grew up in a family of musicians and began the viola da gamba and the cello at the age of seven. After e Bachelor at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague and a Master at the CNSMD of Lyon in viola da gamba, the beginning of her professional career led her to perform on many French and European stages. She developed a strong taste for multidisciplinary productions combining theatre, dance, music,... Garance collaborates then with numerous ensembles such as Ensemble Artasesrse ans Philippe Jaroussky (FR), Le Concert d'Apollon (NL), Ratas del Viejo Mundo (BL), Les Kapsber'girls (FR), Les Musiciens de Saint Julien (FR), La Compagnie de Jeunesse Aimbable (FR) and World Opera Lab (NL).
